A golden invitation arrived without a sender.
差出人のない、金色の招待状が届いた。

Shimmering golden lines led her through the sleeping streets.
きらめく金色の光の筋が、眠る街へと沙耶を導いた。

At midnight, they curled around the door of an unfamiliar boutique.
真夜中、光は見知らぬブティックの扉を縁取った。

Inside, a beautiful handbag seemed to be waiting for her.
店内では、美しいバッグが彼女を待っているようだった。

In the mirror, it already looked like hers.
鏡の中では、もう自分のものに見えた。

Then the clocks began to hurry.
そのとき、時計が急ぎ始めた。

“Now—or you’ll miss it.”
「今だけ。逃してしまいますよ。」

At the counter, the woman asked, “How would you like to pay?”
カウンターの女性が尋ねた。「お支払いは、どうなさいますか？」

Saya reached for her purse.
沙耶は財布に手を伸ばした。

The woman’s voice softened. “Or would you like to wait?”
女性の声がやわらいだ。「それとも、少しお待ちになりますか？」

Saya looked up.
沙耶は顔を上げた。

“I’ll sleep on it.”
「ひと晩、考えてみます。」

Outside, the clocks returned to their own quiet rhythm.
外に出ると、時計は静かな時を刻んでいた。

By morning, the urgency had faded. Her possibilities had not.
朝には、焦りは消えていた。けれど、可能性は消えていなかった。

She set the money aside for a future of her own making.
沙耶は、自分で築く未来のために、そのお金を残した。

Among the coins, a small green shoot appeared.
硬貨の間から、小さな緑の芽が顔を出した。

She smiled. Some things grew when given time.
沙耶は微笑んだ。時間をかけることで、育つものがある。

Last night, she had almost let urgency choose for her.
昨夜は、焦りに選択を委ねそうになっていた。

This morning, the choice was hers.
今朝は、自分の意志で選べた。
