The Suitcase That Wouldn’t Let Go

Episode 6

Luna 🌙 / 月菜

Rain drifted across the quiet station.
静かな駅に、雨が降っていた。

Luna pulled her pink suitcase toward the platform.
月菜はピンクのスーツケースを引き、ホームへ向かっていた。

With every step, it grew heavier.
一歩進むたびに、それは重くなった。

At last, the suitcase became stuck.
とうとう、スーツケースは動かなくなってしまった。

A careless word. An unanswered goodbye. The apology that never came.
心ない一言。返事のなかった別れ。届かなかった謝罪。

“I can’t leave these behind.”
「置いていけないよ。」

“Must I carry them to remember?” she wondered.
「覚えているためには、抱え続けなきゃいけないの？」月菜は自分に問いかけた。

Only the rain answered.
答えたのは、雨の音だけだった。

Black smoke rose from the suitcase. Its weight pulled Luna to the ground.
スーツケースから黒い煙が立ち上り、その重みに月菜は崩れ落ちた。

Old sorrows rose into the rain. She let them drift away.
古い悲しみが雨の中へ舞い上がった。月菜は、引き止めずに見送った。

They dissolved. Sunlight touched her face.
悲しみは溶けていった。陽の光が、頬に触れた。

She took the handle. The weight was gone.
持ち手を握ると、もう重くはなかった。

Luna ran, smiling, the suitcase rolling lightly behind her.
月菜は笑顔で走り出した。スーツケースも軽やかについてきた。

She hadn’t changed the past.
過去が変わったわけではない。

She had stopped asking it to come with her.
ただ、一緒に連れていくのをやめたのだ。
