Chapter 1
The city was alive, but Nikki wasn’t looking at the crowd.
街は生きていた。でも日希は人混みを見ていなかった。
She stood still for a moment, watching the lights reflect off the rain-soaked streets.
彼女は立ち止まり、雨に濡れた路面に映る光を静かに見つめていた。
People rushed past her — chasing something, avoiding something, waiting for something.
人々は何かを追い、何かから逃れ、何かを待ちながら彼女の横を通り過ぎていった。
Nikki smiled.
日希は静かに微笑んだ。
“I don’t wait,” she whispered softly.
「私は待たない」彼女は小さくつぶやいた。
There was no perfect moment. No perfect plan.
完璧なタイミングも、完璧な計画も存在しない。
Only movement.
あるのは、ただ一歩踏み出すことだけ。
She stepped forward.
彼女は前に進んだ。
Not because she knew where she was going.
行き先が分かっていたからではない。
But because she trusted that she would figure it out.
自分なら見つけられると信じていたから。
Every step felt uncertain — but alive.
一歩一歩は不確かだったが、生きている実感に満ちていた。
The world didn’t open for her.
世界が彼女のために開かれたわけではない。
She opened herself to the world.
彼女が世界に心を開いたのだ。
And somehow, that was enough.
そしてそれで十分だった。
